Description
Jazz at The Hunter Club presented by Headhunters Live brings you:
Matt Holborn: Celebrating Stuff Smith – The Unsung Grandfather of Jazz Violin
A founding member of the London Django Collective and a mainstay in the live group of comedian Bill Bailey, Matt Holborn is one of the leading jazz violinists in the UK. Tonight Matt and his quartet celebrate Stuff Smith, a master of swing and a composer and improviser with an unmistakable sound. With Fraser Urquhart (piano), Simon Read (bass) and Joe Dessauer (drums).
“This delightful album sheds sunlight on a rather neglected patch of jazz”
JAZZWISE
“Holborn’s phrasing and husky sound synonymous with heartbreak and resignation”
